Yom Ha’Shoah: Idaho Day of Holocaust Remembrance

    April 24, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

On April 18, 1982, Idaho Governor John Evans signed a proclamation establishing Idaho’s first statewide observation of Holocaust Remembrance. The Holocaust was the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of approximately six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators. “Holocaust” is a word of Greek origin meaning “sacrificed by fire.” Among the Nazis’ other victims were millions of other people deemed as undesirables and condemned to death, including Roma (Gypsies), Slavs, the handicapped, homosexuals, and the terminally ill.
