The Refugee Crisis: Connecting the Past with Today

The world is struggling with the largest refugee crisis since WWII. In order to encourage students to become engaged citizens in today’s world, it is critical that they have the language and background to engage with current events around the topics of refugees and asylum seekers. This session will help educators integrate the topic of refugees into their Holocaust instruction by making connections between the experiences of Jewish refugees during the Holocaust and refugee experiences today. Participants will spend 30-60 minutes in small groups discussing classroom applications for what they learned during the day and present to the group.
